What is an ‘Ad Zombie’ anyway?
Ad Zombies is a flat-fee creative copywriting company that came to life as a response to a need in the marketplace.
In early 2017, our founder Ken ‘Spanky’ Moskowitz was in a private Facebook group for marketers. One member struggled with his ad copy. While many group members gave unhelpful feedback (along the lines of “Yeah, that does suck!”), Ken rewrote the copy with a new, interesting angle and shared it with the group.
People commented and DM’ed, wishing they could whip up creative ad copy just like Spanky. He offered to assist the group members anytime they needed help.
They took him up on it.
At the time, Spanky ran a successful creative media and production agency. One flooded inbox later, he realized a new business was coming to life. Since he was watching a lot of “The Walking Dead” at the time (back when it was still interesting!), Ad Zombies was born. And so was our original tagline, “Bringing ad copy back to life.”
There are two kinds of startups, broadly speaking: the kind that prepares and prepares and has big money behind it and the kind that runs before it walks. Ad Zombies hit the ground running and soon had a team of writers on board to handle the overwhelming number of ad requests.
Then came the system-building, the operations, and the other boring, behind-the-scenes stuff that helped us scale to a 7-figure business in under 700 days. Ad Zombies has written copy for over 3,000 agencies and 40,000 SMBs across every continent except Antarctica (but we’re working on that!)
Today, the Ad Zombies team is headquartered in Mesa, Arizona, with professional writers contributing from around the US and globally.
